I’m no writer, I am just here starting a blog to share my love for food. It’s time to stop boring those around me about some dish I made for my dinner or some new place I have dined at or want to go to. (Side note…friends and family, this won’t save you from me droning on as I’ll just be sending you the link to each entry I post!). I just want to get as many people as excited about food as I am. Cheesy I know, but it’s simply the truth.
I love all food. Ok, no I don’t, the one thing I do hate are berries. Hey, we can’t love everything.
I am all about scouring the shops for ingredients to create dishes, sauces or dressings from scratch. Sometimes I just wing it and improvise with whatever equipment I have in the kitchen and hope for the best. It’s all about trial and error.
I am your typical African child and struggle to have a meal without some chillies. More often than not I put my own little twist on the meal which involves adding some spice.
I have one guilty pleasure… it’s a banana with peanut butter or roasted peanuts. There I said it, it’s out there now. Acceptance is the first step. Curbing the habit will be the next.
I pretend not to eat bread (I can hear my sister laughing now) when in fact I eat it more or less everyday, for breakfast, at work…oh, and at the weekend. Ok ok ok. I eat bread.
Here I will share my (long) list of places I would like to eat , places I have dined and often visit, and dinners I make for myself on a weekday evening as well as a few dinners I get around to making for friends and family, who are my essentially my taste committee for my recipe development. Oh, and I host a monthly Sierra Leonean and Liberian supper club, Nim’s Din. Presents… Cham Cham (with an ever changing menu, so check it out and book yourself in!), alongside holding down a full time job!
